Robert Frost was born on 26th March 1874 in San Francisco, America. his father that when he was 10 years old. then he came to England in 1912. he started writing poetry. he is the most popular American poet of the twentieth century. through this poem, Frost conveys very deep meaning.” simple in nature, It is ominous In substance.

Summary  


Falling of dust of snow:-- Robert Frost presents The nature in a good detail it is the winter season. the snow is falling in the atmosphere. by chance sakes down the dust of snow in such a way from hemlock tree that it falls on the poet. it is not a good omen since the crow and the tree of the hemlock are never auspicious.


Change of mood:-- since the occasion shows the same sorts of dejection. disappointments and ominous fact, so the mood of the poet get sudden change. In order to save himself from further trouble and harm, he saves some part of the day.




हिंदी सारांश


बर्फ कण का गिरना:--रॉबर्ट फ्रॉस्ट प्रकृति का एक अच्छा विवरण प्रस्तुत करता है। सर्दी की ऋतु है। वातावरण में बर्फ गिर रही है। अचानक एक कौआ धतूरा के पेड़ को इस प्रकार हिलाता है कि वह बर्फ कवि पर गिर जाती है। वह एक शुभ शगुन नहीं है क्योंकि कौवा और धतूरा का वृक्ष दोनों ही कभी शुभ नहीं होते हैं। 


मनोवृति बदलना:-- क्योंकि ऐसा अवसर विशाद, निराशा एवं अपशगुन दर्शाता है, अतः कवि की चित्तवृत्ति में अचानक परिवर्तन आता आ जाता है। आने वाली परेशानी या अपशगुन से बचने के लिए कवि से इस दिन पर प्रतिबंध लगा देता है।

Q1.What is a ‘ dust of snow’? what does the poet say has changed his mood? how has the poet's mood changed?

Ans.  a ‘dust of snow means small particles of snow that remain together. the following of the dust of snow on the poet has changed his mood. earlier the poet was in a depressed and sorrowful mood, but now he has become cheerful and ready to utilize the rest of the day.


Q2.How does Frost present nature in this poem?  the following question may help you think of an answer.


i. What are the birds that are usually named in poems? do you think a crow is often mentioned in a poem? what images come to your mind when you think of a crow?

Ans. Swallow, Nightingale, Blue-tit, peacock, cuckoo, mynah, skylark, Sparrow, etc. are the birds usually named in the poem. we very rarely see a crow mentioned in poems. when I think of a crow, it presents the image of sadness and cunningness.


ii. Again, what is ‘ a hemlock tree’?Why doesn't the poet write about more ‘ beautiful’ trees such as a Maple, or an oak, or a pine?

Ans. ‘Hemlock tree’ is a poisonous plant with small white flowers. the poet doesn't write about a more ‘ beautiful’ tree because it is natural that when we are sad, we can't think of sweet and beautiful things. the poet must have been sad at that time.


iii. What do the ‘crow’ and ‘ Hemlock’ represent - Joy or sorrow? what does the dust of snow that the crow shakes of hemlock tree stand for?

Ans. The ‘crow’ and ‘Hemlock’ represent sorrow. The dust of Snow stands for happiness and joy. it shows that the said day is going to change into something joyful for the poet. 


Q3. Have there been times when you felt depressed or hopeless? have you experienced a similar moment that changes your mood that day?

Ans.  Yes, many times when I feel sad and hopeless, I small thing happens and changes my mood. one day I was very sad to find my bicycle punctured. in the meantime, one of my friends informed me on the phone that he was going to give me a lift to school on his new scooter. my mood changed.
