Robert Frost


Introduction


Robert Frost was an American poet. he was born in 1874 in San Francisco USA full stop his parents were school teachers in New England. by chance, his father gave up his teaching and became an editor of some paper. during the age of 19, Frost started writing. He never graduated from any college but was granted honorary degrees from the 28 Universities.his poetry is marked with irony humanity nature and simplicity. in this poem the poet views that the world will perish. nothing is permanent. all are born to die one day. this is the real truth. It gives the message of the universality of life.





Summary


The ends of the world:-- Robert Frost wants to avail the humanity that everything is perishable. even the world will perish one day since it is inevitable. death will come. it will spare none. according to him, people say that the world will end either in fire or ice. he holds his view with those people who agree that the world will end in fire.


Destruction through the ice:-- The poet is much troubled and amazed in case it had to die twice. he is fully aware of how the hatred brings destruction to the nation. it creates trouble and ill-will. the destruction through ice is also colossal like hatred. as the ice cubes on melting, in the same way, the seeds of hatred go on bringing ruin to the society. it is much enough for ruin. so we should shun hatred, avarice, and coldness.

संसार का अंत:-- रॉबर्ट फ्रॉस्ट मानवता को जलाना चाहता है की हर वस्तु नाशवान है। 1 दिन संसार भी नष्ट हो जाएगा क्योंकि यह अवश्यमेंव् है|मृत्यु आएगी यह किसी को भी शेष नहीं छोड़ेगी। कवि के अनुसार लोग कहते हैं कि संसार का अंत या तो अग्नि तथा बर्फ करेगी उसका विचार उन लोगों के साथ है जो कहते हैं कि संसार अग्नि में समाप्त होगा |


बस द्वारा विनाश:- कवि अत्यंत ही दुखी एवं हैरान है कि क्या संसार का विनाश दो बार होगा। उसे इस बात की जानकारी है कि किस प्रकार घृणा राष्ट्र के लिए विनाश का कारण बनती है। यह कठिनाई तथा दुर्भावना पैदा करती है। बस के द्वारा भी घृणा की भांति गहन विनाश है। जिस भांति वर्ष पिघलती रहती है उसी प्रकार घृणा के बीच समाज को बर्बाद करते रहते हैं। यह विनाश के लिए काफी है| अतः हमें घृणा लालच और रूखापन से दूर रहना चाहिए|

Assonance: - Example- The long sound of “o” in “I hold with those who favour fire”

Alliteration: -Example- The sound of “f” in “favour fire”, “w” in “world will”

Imagery: -Example- “Some say the world will end in fire”

                                        “To say that for destruction ice Is also great”

Anaphora: -Example - “Some say” is repeated at the start of lines 1 and 2.

Personification: - In this poem, “fire” and “ice” are capable of destruction. Thus, the poet personifies fire and ice by giving them the mind and power to destroy anything.

Enjambment: -Example-   “From what I’ve tasted of desire

                                                     I hold with those who favor fire”

Some say the world will end in fire

Some say in ice.

From what I’ve tasted of desire

I hold with those who favor fire.
