About the lesson

Tricki is a small pet dog. His mistress Mrs. Pumphrey is very rich. So Tricki lives an affluent life. He is pampered and overfed by his mistress. But he is given no physical exercise. He becomes hugely fat and lazy. He falls seriously ill. His mistress is distraught to see him unwell. She consults the narrator who is a veterinary surgeon. He heals Tricki without performing an operation. Mrs. Pumphrey is excited as well as happy to see her dog recovered from the disease.

ट्रिकी एक छोटा पालतू कुत्ता है। उसकी मालकिन श्रीमती पम्फ्रे बहुत अमीर है| इसलिए ट्रिकी एक समृद्धि पूर्ण जीवन जीता है। उसकी मालकिन द्वारा उसे बहुत लाड़ प्यार किया जाता है तथा उसे अत्याधिक भोजन करा दिया जाता है। किंतु उससे सारे काम नहीं कराया जाता। कोई अत्यधिक मोटा तथा आलसी हो जाता है। वह गंभीर रूप से बीमार हो जाता है। उसकी मालकिन से अस्वस्थ देखकर परेशान हो जाती है। वह वर्णनकर्ता से संपर्क करती है, जो कि एक पशु चिकित्सक है। बैटरी को बिना चीरफाड़ के ही स्वस्थ कर देता है| श्रीमती पम्फ्रे अपने कुत्ते को बीमार से स्वस्थ देखकर प्रसन्न हो जाती है|

Ans. He takes Tricki to his surgery. he provides him with natural atmosphere among other dogs. he does not allow Tricki to take excessive food. he lets him play with other dogs. in this way he treats Tricki.

Ans. Tricki had become Hugely fat. he seemed to have no energy. Mrs. Pumphrey admitted him to Mr. Herriot’s surgery. there he was transformed into a light, hard-muscled animal in 2 weeks. Som Mrs. Pumphrey thinks the dog’s recovery is A triumph of surgery.

Q1. What kind of a person do you think the narrator, veterinary surgeon, is? would you say he is a text full as well as full of common sense?
Ans. The narrator is a skilled veterinary doctor. he knows well how to treat animals. he is tactful as well as full of common sense. that is why he succeeded in Tricki's treatment without medicines.


Q2. Do you think tricky was happy to go home?
Ans. Yes, we do think so because he loved his mistress very much. now, he will be seen running and jumping in the house after rats and cats. but in a few days, he will be fed so much by Mrs. Pumphrey that he will become sick.

Q3. Do you think this is a real-life episode or fiction? or is it mixture of both? 
Ans. He thinks it is a real-life episode with some part of the fiction. in real life, we see that rich people who love their pets, overfeed them, and make them Sick. the author relates this story mixing it with his own ideas to produce humor as well as pity.

Q1.This episode describes the silly behavior of a rich woman who is foolish indulgent because she is lonely. do you think such people are merely silly, or can their action cause harm to others?
Ans. I think that a person like Mrs. Pumphrey is over intelligent because she is lonely. her indulgence over Tricki makes her foolish. she lacks in common sense .such persons can cause harm to others as Mrs. Pumphrey does to Tricki.

Q2. Do you think there are also parents like Mrs. Pumphrey?
Ans. Yes, within that there are parents like Mrs. Pumphrey. Such parents love their children excessively. by doing so they spoil them.

Q3. What do you have done if you were: i) a member of the staff in Mrs. Pumphrey's household? ii) a neighbour? what would your life would have been like in general?
Ans. If I had been a member of the staff in Mrs. Pumphrey’s household, I would have politely advised her to cut down Tricki’s food give only the light food prevent him from being sick. I would have also advised to consult of veterinary doctor. 
If I had been a neighbor, I would have explained to Mrs. Pumphrey the cause of Tricki’s sickness and asked her to cut down on sweet things as Mr Herriot had previously told her,my life as a member of Mrs. Pumphrey staff would have been more comfortable she was a rich and generals lady. My life as a neighbour could be a bit irritating to see her foolish behavior towards her dog.
